Chocolate Rolls

Ingredients:
4 cups flour
1 ¾ cups shortening
1 T. sugar
2 t. salt
1 T. vinegar
1 egg, beaten
½ cup cold water

For Filling:
4 cups sugar
1 t. salt
¾ cup cocoa powder
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 ½ sticks butter, softened
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 t. vanilla
½ cup powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, vinegar and egg together. Cut in shortening with a fork. Slowly add cold water tablespoon at a time until dough is combined; do not overwork dough or it will become tough. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. To prepare filling: stir dry ingredients together in a large bowl. In another bowl, blend cream cheese, butter, milk and vanilla together until smooth. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet and blend thoroughly.
Remove dough from fridge and preheat oven to 300 degrees. Divide pastry dough into 6 parts. Roll each part onto a lightly floured surface into ½ inch thick circles. Spread chocolate filling in the center of each pastry circle, leaving a 1-inch border. *You will have extra filling- do not overfill! Roll each circle up like a burrito and place seam down on a baking pan. Be sure to leave 1 inch between each roll. Bake rolls at 300 for 30 minutes, then increase oven to 375 degrees (do not remove rolls) and bake an additional 30 minutes. Remove from oven and dust with powdered sugar. Allow to cool slighly before slicing.
